Starting with Coconut Waste: Our First Four Creations at BMS

BMS Marketing Team
October 11, 2026

At BMS, we are beginning to explore new uses for aromatic coconut waste from communities in Ratchaburi. Our first four creations—from Hypertufa pots to Biochar aroma sachets—explore how leftover materials can become part of everyday life.

Where this work begins

Once an aromatic coconut has been used, what else can we do with the husk and shell left behind?

That question is the starting point for a project we are developing at BMS. We see opportunities in aromatic coconut waste from communities in Ratchaburi, and we want to explore how these materials can return to everyday life through useful, thoughtfully designed objects.

We are starting with four creations that bring together materials, design, and practical use: Hypertufa, Aroma Candle, Aroma Stone, and Aroma Sachet.

The first four creations we are exploring

Hypertufa — Giving leftover materials a new form

We incorporate recovered materials, including coconut-derived Biochar, into our Hypertufa pot mixtures. Each piece can vary in texture and colour depending on its formulation and how it is made. These pots give us a starting point for exploring how the materials can be shaped and used.

Aroma Candle — Developing vessels for scented candles

From plant pots, we began exploring other uses for the material. One direction is a vessel for scented candles, with coconut-derived recovered material incorporated into the container itself. It connects the story of the material with an object that brings atmosphere to an everyday space.

Aroma Stone — Exploring Biochar-based aroma beads

We are also developing Biochar-containing beads for use with fragrance oils. These small objects allow us to explore different forms, material textures, and ways of using them, while learning from the pieces we make and refining them along the way.

Aroma Sachet — Bringing the material into a scented sachet

We use Biochar-based beads in aroma sachets that can be hung or placed in suitable small spaces. For corporate projects, fragrance choices and logo customisation can be discussed to suit each brief. This gives the material’s story another way to travel—as part of a gift or keepsake.

Learning through making

These four creations give us a foundation for further development, from selecting mixtures and shaping each piece to refining its finish and suitability for use.

Recovered coconut material forms part of each relevant formulation, alongside other ingredients that vary by product. We want to communicate those material origins clearly and use verifiable information when discussing environmental impact.

A starting point for future collaborations

This work is opening up opportunities for BMS to develop finished products for corporate clients, alongside BMS / TRACE pieces for further creative work and DIY Boxsets suited to different projects.

We will continue sharing what we are making, how we are developing it, and what we learn along the way here on our blog.
